Greetings Wolfpack! Just four more days until Course Selection Day!
Looking for an elective that will develop your whole student - mind, body, and soul? Then one of our many music course offerings may be for you!
Did you know that recent legislation passed by our country's lawmakers, and signed into law by President Obama, entitled "the Every Student Succeeds Act" (ESSA) lists music (among all the other core subjects and discipline areas) as one of the "stand alone" subjects that are essential for a complete and comprehensive student education? #musicstandsalone
Attached are two documents that shed even more light on the "whole child" effects that music can have on your student and what is courses are offered here at CO!
QUICK THOUGHTS TO CONSIDER WHEN SELECTING ELECTIVES COURSES:
While many people already respect the importance of maintaining music education in today’s schools, there are thousands of others who don’t understand why it’s necessary.
Today’s educational culture places a high value on quantifying academic achievement. Clearly, gauging student progress and learning is important. At the same time, we must recognize that our true mission as educators lies in shaping the students behind the scores.
Yes, we know that music education is important to the lives of our students, BUT WHY?
Studies have demonstrated positive links between music education and outcomes such as test scores and graduation rates. These outcomes help affirm the value of music programs; however, experts believe that music study does something even more important for students.

Congratulations to all EGUSD seniors who have had perfect attendance in the first months of this school year. You are on your way to being eligible to win a new car if you get five total months of perfect attendance and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
If you happened to miss perfect attendance one of the previous months there is still a shot for you to win a new automobile. All you need is a total of five months with perfect attendance. That’s right, get yourself to school every day in December, January, February, March and April and you will qualify to be entered in the drawing to win $20,000 toward a new car donated by the Elk Grove Auto Mall.
Remember - No excuses - Go to school! What’s not to like about having the chance to go from studying in your chair in class, to potentially sitting in a shiny new automobile in May. So set those alarm clocks, then double-check them, and adjust your schedule and dedicate yourself to perfect attendance for the rest of the school year.
